Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: Everyone—welcome Jam at 6:45pm, Open Stage at 7:30pm, Feature Performers Chris Baron Duo at 9:00pm; Friendship Hall (formerly Norway House) 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door
Chris Baron is a model singer-songwriter from the Oregon portion of The Pacific Northwest. Born to perform, Chris’s music is fiery, good-natured, and furiously stylized, like big-band Cat Stevens meets the directness of the Avett Brothers! From solemn to goofy, sentimental to grateful, his mannerisms and charisma effortlessly transition between songs and his "Orchestral Folk" sound is beloved from festival stages to living rooms. Barns rarely survive, and smiles get wider even in darkness. Chiris started producing original albums and EPs in 1998 at the age 17 and as of 2026 he has twenty-nine of them - five he considers ‘solo albums’. Chris is joined tonight by Debbie Stewart on cello and vocals.
