Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: Everyone—welcome Jam 6:45pm, Open Stage 7:30pm, Feature Performer John McLachlan 9pm; Norway House, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door

British Columbia born folk singer/songwriter John McLachlan's original songs are hand-woven from his own roots and the history and salty air of Canada's west coast. John began performing in folk clubs in Vancouver in 1979 and for 20 years presented his original music in hundreds of BC theatres, festivals, clubs, and schools. After a hiatus from touring while he worked as a graphic designer and arts administrator, John returned to music in 2014 and since then has recorded several albums of originals as well as releasing an album of 14 songs by Gordon Lightfoot recorded with Marc Atkinson (lead guitar/mandolin) and Scott White (bass). John now calls Hornby Island home.
