Jim and Penny are a husband-and-wife duo from Edmonton, Alberta. Raising a family before they got around to writing music together, they play Bluegrass, old-time Swing, classic Country, Folk, and Jazz -influenced music, delivering songs about love of all kinds with humour and passion on guitars, mandolin and intimate harmony vocals.
Over the past two decades, as a duo and with their band Back Porch Swing, the Malmbergs have travelled across western Canada and far beyond their Edmonton headquarters. Festival highlights include Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Festival, Ness Creek Festival, Blueberry Bluegrass Festival, Shady Grove Bluegrass Festival, Coombs Bluegrass Festival, and even Burning Man! They’re entertaining as all get out!
