Anthea Feaver is a Kingston-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Knitting together the old and new, Anthea’s original music combines the syncopated rhythms and repetitive melodic appeal of her favourite folk traditions with impressionistic lyrics that meditate on family, love, loss, and the passage of time. Her debut album "Summer's Morning," out September 20th, is a collection of eight original and two traditional songs that explore experiences of love through the lens of trauma and the process of recovery. Tied together by this wider theme, the songs reflect on mental illness, environmentalism, existentialism, isolation, and connection. The arrangements range from sparse and sombre (“January-December”; “Come All Ye Fair and Tender Maidens) to energetic and uplifting ("Bedtime Story"; “Summer’s Morning”), all the while driven by Feaver’s poignant lyricism and deftly fingerpicked guitar. “Summer’s Morning” shines a light on the intricate balance between bleakness and hope.
Alexander Gallant is a folk singer-songwriter from Halifax, Nova Scotia. In the tradition of A Singer With A Guitar, Alexander’s songs are simple, direct, and have one foot planted firmly on the ground. Alexander believes in song as the purest method of communication, and uses folk styling to deliver his musings on the profound, absurd, and the blue.
