Event Description
Don't miss out on Nautical Chart Art this summer!
In this crafty and creative workshop, participants will breathe new life into old nautical charts using origami and iris-folding techniques. You'll be provided a shadow box to frame your work of art and preserve the three dimensional nature of the craft!
This workshop is perfect for a family group - bring your child and team up together on this exciting project. Or perhaps parent/grandparent bonding, anyone?
The educational component of this workshop brings more critical attention to how maps are created as cultural tools, and not just objective depictions of reality. Looking at old maps and charts gives us the ability to peer into the past, like a time capsule into how people used to see the world.
$34.99 + GST per person (members receive 20% discount)
Price includes all supplies!
Ticket includes admission to the Maritime Museum of BC (valid for 24 hours).
For more information, please email us at programs@mmbc.bc.ca.
Please note: This workshop is limited to a maximum of 10 participants. We will contact you 24 hours before the workshop, should it be cancelled due to low registration. A full refund will be issued, if the workshop does not run.
