Salt Spring Island's Sharon Bailey takes an Americana playbook and translates it into an original west-coast blend of Alt Country, Folk Roots, and Rock – where the rural and urban collide.
After years playing venues and festivals across western Canada with both Kat Wahamaa and Tupelo Honey, and opening for acts such as Michelle Shocked, Lynn Miles, and Anne Feeney, Bailey turned to renowned Victoria musician Adam Dobres to produce her new album 'Play Me A Song'. Taking inspiration from such artists as Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, and Natalie Merchant, the songs reflect on her urban origins, her new rural realities, and the positive power of music itself.
Bailey's lush and luminous work showcases her melodic hooks and lines amidst the stellar musicianship of her band featuring Victoria's own Tyler Lieb on pedal-steel and guitar, Dylan Stone on bass, and Dana Tower on drums.
'Play Me a Song' is available in digital format, CD's, and LP's
