Hatchling's second Ocean Island Friday of 2014 is on the way, and I'm pleased as punch to announce this month's musical guests.
Back for a repeat performance is the beautiful Arwen Ainsley, recently selected as a performer at yoUnlimited's first "Women and Song" event, a showcase of local female musical talent. Arwen's pure, vulnerable vocals and poetic lyrics will take you on a journey to the center of your own heart.
Also joining us will be Corey Francis and his band, bringing us some bluesy acoustic folk-rock to get our heads bobbing and our feet tapping.
No cover - admission by donation. Seating is limited so you might want to come early to get a good one. As usual, Ocean Island has cheap and very tasty food and bevvies available for your pleasure.

Hatchling is a classical and jazz trained musician who took up the piano at age six and has been writing songs ever since. Her style is a sweet and smoky blend of jazz, blues, soul, folk, trip-hop and dance.
Fans have compared her voice to the likes of Norah Jones, and Tracey Thorn of Everything But The Girl. Her poetic lyrics range from gorgeous and complex metaphor to heartbreaking simplicity.
Hatchling wears no armour over her heart or her eyes when she gives her raw and revealing performances. Her deepest pleasure is to connect to the hidden emotions of her audience. Come, listen, and be moved.

Singer/songwriter Corey Francis hails from Sarnia, Ontario and has been making music, 14 years' strong. Former member of Handsome Distraction, now a solo outfit with guests, his original repertoire shows subtle influences of the Rolling Stones, Taj Mahal, Townes Van Zandt, and has been known to play covers, in loving tribute. Keep your eye and ear on this one; his catchy and unique soulful blues/folk sound invites repeat listening, guaranteed to get stuck in your head, leave you wanting more.
