In an email to fans on August 30, 2023, Kingston's The Tragically Hip announced the release of a new single titled Bumblebee. The email explained that the song would be the first of five singles to be released, all of which will be included on the band's "Phantom Power" 25th anniversary box set.

Each of the five songs were recorded during the original album sessions for "Phantom Power," which was produced by Steve Berlin, and originally released on July 14th, 1998.
